A new day is dawning in mental healthcare as psychedelic medicines move toward governmental approval and more mainstream psychiatric use. Carefully done research continues to bear out the profound healing potential of safe and intentional psychedelic experience. At the same time, more and more individuals are accessing and trying out psychedelic substances with friends and partners, or working with guides trained in indigenous traditions of plant medicine.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
At Brooklyn Somatic Therapy, we are proud to be part of the movement to help more people safely access the benefits of psychedelic medicine.
Ketamine is the first substance with psychedelic properties to be approved for clinical use. It has been found to be a highly effective intervention for long-standing cases of depression, as well as showing great promise in treating anxiety, PTSD, and more. Ketamine becomes especially effective when paired with psychotherapy.

Psychedelic Integration Groups
In every healing tradition involving psychedelics, it is understood that the work begun during psychedelic journeys continues well beyond their formal end. New insights and perspectives become more deeply rooted with further reflection and elaboration in a safe space. New impulses toward healthy behavior and self-compassion that arise with psychedelics need to be identified, cultivated, and supported to become grounded in the individual’s day to day life.
Our new Psychedelic Integration Groups are designed for individuals who have had guided or personal psychedelic experiences of any kind in the (relatively) recent past and are interested in having their integration process supported in community, with experienced facilitation by Dr. Ben Kagedan. The group will run for 8 weeks and cover themes such as cultivating insight, making meaningful change, making sense of spiritual/existential experiences, talking to friends and family about psychedelic work, and more. We will explore the use of somatic mindfulness, creative expression, and movement as ways to ground and support intention, with plenty of time for sharing and processing.
